Sakai Takayuki Honkasumi is made by Japanese traditional style, Honkasumi method using Yasuki white-2 steel for professionals, which is well balanced with quality and cost, which a full dexterous smith forged highly carefully by traditional technique.
Hongasumi knives are constructed in the same way as Kasumi knives. However, Honkasumi is given more processes and work required for than Kasumi knives.
Sakai Takayuki Honkasumi is made from two materials by joining soft iron steel with Yasuki white-3 steel; forming the blade’s edge and the soft stainless steel forms the body and spine of the blade. For this reason some people call Kasumi “awase” (which literally means ‘to combine’). Kasumi knives are less expensive than Honyaki knives and are easier to use and sharpen.
